Community
The South Jersey Port Corporation takes seriously its role in the community. For instance, the Port is a major employer in the City of Camden. Revenues from the Port help fund the city and county governments in the municipalities in which its facilities are located. Representatives of the Port are members of a number of community organizations and contribute to their activities and successes.
Similarly, the Port takes its responsibility as a quasi-governmental agency seriously. From responding to requests for information through the Open Public Records Act to sponsoring a port-wide clean up days for its tenants, itself and the city and providing educational outreach opportunities to local school children, the South Jersey Port is a good neighbor.
The Port is a member of a coalition of three maritime related organizations from two neighboring states that joined together to search out ways to “green” their activities and facilities while reducing their impacts on their surrounding communities. The Delaware River Port Authority and the Philadelphia Regional Port Authority are the South Jersey Port Corporation’s partners in this journey toward sustainability in marine operations.
